Hello World

I’ve done this a few times — set up a blog, started typing. Figured it out. This is old hat by now, although I do have a couple of new hats, and there are always new wrinkles. Let us begin and say no more of the passing of time. Well. That’s a joke, of course, because even if weren’t the type who likes to go all agape at the idea that everything was so long ago. Jimmy Hoffa disappeared on this day 50 years ago. Wow. He’s probably dead by now for sure.

That’s not what this is going to be about, this space. And you certainly know this, having been someone invited to read. I’m really not interested in broadcasting anymore. I always felt I couldn’t get a toehold in the world of creative nonfiction because I never had a niche. I still don’t — there are too many niches! Come ON. I. don’t understand specialization. I much prefer having a superficial knowledge of lots of things; it’s probably my superpower, if we’re playing that game. I’m pretty comfortable knowing what I don’t know, as long as I know how to find out.

Again, you all must be familiar with me by now. I’m really hoping not to ever have to introduce myself again if humanly possible. My life is an open book (several). You can catch up on your own time, you imaginary reader.

This is a bare-bones, open-source platform, exactly what I wanted. I’ll probably eventually map my domain (chucksigars-dot-com) to this site. I may post once a week, possibly several times. Possibly every day, I don’t know. I just wanted to sneak off Facebook, which never felt right for this sort of thing.

I have limited bandwidth most days for this sort of thing, but I’m excited about creating a space to share thoughts. Images, ideas, musings.
